What the 4th of July means to me
Independence Day is the celebration of our fundamental American ideals of individual liberty and freedom. The founders of our nation believed that all Americans were entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They understood that every person was entitled to freedom of belief and freedom of choice.
I firmly believe in this vision. No American should be persecuted because of who they are or what they believe. What promotes the liberty and happiness of one person can be very different from what allows another person to feel happy and fulfilled. It is important to allow all citizens the opportunity to follow their individual hopes and dreams. This vision is an important part of the ideals that make our nation great.
I am running for the U.S. Senate because I want to work on behalf of the people of Kansas and ensure our nation grows stronger.
